Protecting Iranian Morals

(From Teaching Comparative)
The photo almost says it all. The version on the right showed up in Iranian media. The original US broadcast is on the left.

Spot the difference? Michelle Obama’s dress gets Iranian photoshop restyle

By the way, think about seeing best picture Argo for an extra credit film review option when we get to Iran, where the film has not appeared in any cinema.

BTW, the Academy Awards uses the Alternative Vote Plan aka Instant Runoff Voting that was proposed and failed in the UK.

Then this from apgov.org:

Argo was selected as Best Picture at the Oscar this year. The award was presented by FLOTUS Michelle Obama. Argo depicts a CIA rescue during the Embassy Hostage Crisis in 1979. Iran has called the film an advertisement for the CIA and distorted history.

Ironically, Iran distorted history a bit more by photoshopping Michelle Obama's dress to be more modest. Check out the before and after images below.

While not being shown in any cinemas in Iran, Argo is a hot seller on the Black Market in Tehran among Iranian youth.

You can purchase a copy for about 30,000 rials, less than $1.

Regardless of their own morals, they are misrepresenting America. Now Indians will have a diluted perception of what kind of country we are and may come over here with false expectations

This reminds me of http://www.businessinsider.com/why-hillary-clinton-was-cropped-from-situation-room-photo-by-israeli-newspaper-2011-5, a newspaper controversy that took place 2 years ago.
I'm personally just shocked that Iran is actually censoring other countries. Wouldn't you want to provide your country's people with completely accurate stories? While editing the dress doesn't seem like a big deal, they're censoring another country and controlling what Iranian people can see.
