Most of the time the filibuster is misused. Different individuals choose to halt the process of legislation for personal reasons rather than sound political ideology. So I believe that the nuclear option does aid in governmental efficiency. However, just like the filibuster, the nuclear option may be abused in the future. Different presiding officers with an affiliation to a certain party may move topics to vote without the proper amount of debate. There's just this general give and take.
I agree with Ester on her comment on the misused filibuster. Now a days individuals in the political world have been using this to try to "personalize" it. President Obama has been used a lot in his term has half of the filibuster deployments, not because they oppose the nominees it is because they oppose the president. As well as the nuclear option that will just be another "personalized" or overused concept in the legislation process
I did one of my current events on this I believe. Filibusters are misused many times and honestly all it does it create a sense of chaos in the legislative process and create more disruption than there already is. That's why I think that the nuclear option should be good cause it'll increase efficiency in the government for now. However, as Ester said, it could be abused really easily in the future.
